ORTHO-KINETICS® Fitness & Performance Institute is dedicated to research, development and provision of advanced educational and practical training courses for Professional Fitness Trainers, Strength Coaches, Athletic Trainers, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Clinical Massage Therapists and other health and fitness professionals.
The Ortho-Kinetics® Institute will also produce new educational resources, products, and tools for the advancement of human health and performance. The scope of Ortho-Kinetics® both in practice and in instruction is focused in the areas of Advanced Assessment methods, Corrective & Performance Based Exercise Programming and Biomechanically based Training Techniques. We also integrate and are a provider for specialized manual therapies and soft tissue techniques.
The Ortho-Kinetics® Institute is based within the and headquarters for the Ortho-Kinetics® Trainer, and Ortho-Kinetics® Therapist programs. These programs are the most extensive educational and training programs within the industry totaling over 500 hours of intense class work, hands-on training, some independent study and internships. These programs are designed for career minded personal trainers, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and other industry professionals who seek advanced education and strive to improve their assessment, programming and training skills.
The Ortho-Kinetics® Trainer program consists of, the “Professional” Trainer (PTR) and the “Specialist” Trainer (STR) courses. These programs are designed to produce extremely knowledgeable, skilled and proficient physical trainers. Ortho-Kinetics® Trainers will be well prepared to be leading trainers within the fitness industry skilled in providing Advanced Assessment Methods, effective programming systems, and will be armed with literally hundreds of new Proprietary Corrective and Performance Based exercise movements. Ortho-Kinetics® Trainers will also be specially trained to work along-side and in cooperation with other health providers such as Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists, and Clinical Massage Therapists as post-rehab and preventative exercise specialists
The Ortho-Kinetics® Therapist program is also comprised of two consecutive courses, the “Advanced” Therapist (ATX) and the “Master” Therapist (MTX). The Therapist level courses will empower Ortho-Kinetics® Trainer/ Therapists to legally perform specific “clothes-on” manual therapies and tissue treatment techniques, such as “Muscle Activation Techniques” (MAT) & “Active Release Techniques” (ART). Ortho-Kinetics® Therapists will learn to integrate such specialized manual therapies and tissue treatments into their corrective and performance training to help correct muscular imbalances, improve movement performance and help eliminate pain beyond what training or treatment can accomplish alone.
The Ortho-Kinetics® Trainer program consists of 5 interdependent (10) hour classes.
- All modules within each course level are intricately linked but not necessarily sequential allowing students to take missed classes at future dates.
- All classes provide 10hr CEC that have been historically approved for most all other industry certifications. However, we can not gaurentee that other organizations will continue to recognize ORTHO-KINETICS CECs Certification refore they can be taken individually to simply gather new information and maintain mandatory continuing education credits.
- All modules are intentionally limited to small groups to emphasize individual attention, promote higher student participation, & maximize the learning process.
- For those with challenging schedules, modules can also be scheduled to take through private tutoring sessions for an incremental fee.
- All lectures & hands-on training modules are taught by Everett Aaberg, and his top Ortho-Kinetics® Trainer / Therapists on-site at the TELOS Fitness Center.
Course Descriptions:
NOTE: All courses are designed for career minded, personal trainers who are interested in gaining a higher level of knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the anatomical structures and integrated systems that are responsible for generating, controlling, and improve the human body’s function, movement and overall performance. ability to function moe and responsible for generating, modifying, and storing the motor programs that dictate the human body’s functions, movement, and overall performance. that are responsible for as well as; Exercise Physiologists, Athletic Trainers, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, and other fitness and health professionals.
ORTHO-KINETICS® “Professional Trainer” Certification Course, (PTr)
The Professional Trainer Course is course is designed to provide career minded fitness, sports, and health care professionals a comprehensive review of the designed anatomical structures and integrated systems of the body that are responsible for generating, executing, modifying, and storing the motor programs that dictate our bodies’ movement ability and overall performance. This systematic approach to presenting “Functional Anatomy” is conducive with the methods we utilize to teach and train our students to skillfully provide our ORTHO-KINETICS Assessments, Programming and Training processes. Which, are also the primary objectives to achieve, and the greatest volume of class time invested towrds earni ng certification as an ORTHO-KINETICS Professional Trainer.
Our proprietary ORTHO-KINETICS Assessments, Programming Processes, and Training Techniques are used to clearly identify and begin to correct all joint movement limitations, muscular imbalances, and movement compensations discovered to help people restore function, increase strength, improve movement and obtain optimal performance of their bodies. All students will be provided the temporary use of the proprietary ORTHO-KINETICS Application that securley stores, and will continually track all Assessment results data. This data is then used to develop optimally safe, highly effective, and truley customized training programs that can address the persons’ discovered needs, and progress towards their desired goals.
(NOTE: The ORTHO-KINETICS® Application is only available for ongoing use for Certified ORTHO-KINETICS® Trainers, and is only capable for use on an Apple iPad which we do not provide or directly sell. If you already have an iPad or plan to purchase one soon, please let us know the year and model in advance, as Apple no longer supports some of their earlier models, nor will allow for applications developed by independent companies to operate on those iPads.)
ORTHO-KINETICS® “Specialist Trainer” Certification Course, (STr)
Specialists must complete, pass and have achieved certification as an ORTHO-KINETICS® “Professional Trainer” to begin this course. This step of advancement within our ORTHO-KINETICS® System will arm current “Professional Trainers” with additional assessment methods, particularly our “Neuromuscular Stability Testing” , (NST) which includes over 320 specific NST tests performed at specific joint positions with application of specific force angles.
By gathring and comparing the NST information in every plane, for each joint, we are able to derive a complete and more accurate “Joint Bias Analysis”, (JBA), in turn, than we could obtain at our “Professional Trainer” level. Consequently, once this advanced Joint Bias Assessment is combined with our Postural Pattern Assessment, (PPA), and Functional Movement Evaluation, (FME) will guide the selection and programming of specific training exercies, and possible treatments, to include for each routine within their program mesocycle, (typically a 6-8 week duration). As such, a majority of the class time within the STr Course is dedicated to hands-on training of the precise Neuromuscular Stability Testing and utalization of the comined resukts to help develop a more accurate Joint Bias Analysis and a better overall Customized Training Program than we could possibly derive through our Professional Trainer Level of assessment or any other known Assessment process within the Fitness, Sports, or Medical industry.
review of the designed anatomical structures and integrated systems of the body that are responsible for generating, executing, modifying, storing and recalling the motor programs that dictate our bodies’ function, movement, and overall performance.
Several “Muscle-Testing” systems and techniques have drawn attention for controversial impressions as to the validity of how the testing is provided, and more-so, what proposed deeper information about a persons physical health can be derived from muscle testing. Regardless of what other people may or may not be able to learn from muscle testing, our purpose with NST is to simply assess if the specific muscles are currently strong enough to produce and stabilize a specific joint position. Which once completed for each joint and within every plane they move, that data will empower us to develop a complete and more accurate Joint Bias Analysis, (JBA), that will help guide better selection of speciifc exercises, and development of a more “Customised Training and Treatment Programs” for the clients, athletes, and people that we serve.

The ability to provide a comprehensive assessment and discover a client’s or patient’s present level of joint function, muscular imbalances, postural deviations, and movement pattern compensations is critical for accurately design appropriate exercise routines. This course will also continue to add new proprietary exercises to expand trainer’s programming options and better address the specific needs and performance goals for their clients.

Ortho-Kinetics® “Elite” Trainer / Therapist: Ortho-Kinetics® ETr
Elite Trainer / Therapists should have completed and certification of and tested out of the Ortho-Kinetics® “Specialist” Trainer program if interested in actual “certification” as opposed to continuing education. Entering the Ortho-Kinetics® “Therapist” track will involve the desire for Ortho-Kinetics® Trainers or already existing licensed clinical therapists, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers or Chiropractors to begin acquiring the skills to provide specialized manual therapies & soft tissue treatments as a part of their professional practice. These therapies are conducive with the assessment methods, programming, and the unique corrective & performance based exercises learned in the previous “trainer” levels. This 96 hour course prepares and empowers students to begin to integrate specific forms of manual therapies to help correct muscular imbalances, improve joint function, and increase overall movement performance.
